Northeastern University
The Institute of Race and Justice (IRJ) at Northeastern University is now serving as the MAPC Shannon CSI research partner. After the first year of the grant, the Council recognized the need for a dedicated research partner to assist and evaluate its unique regional approach. The IRJ research team is led by Drs. Jack McDevitt and Amy Farrell, who have worked with MAPC communities on a number of previous initiatives and have experience researching issues of youth and gang violence. For Shannon CSI, they conduct analyses of data from Year One and the experiences of project partners to help refine Shannon CSI strategies. Their network analysis examining the nature and extent of relationships between gang members, both within and between MAPC communities, is particularly relevant for this regional initiative. Working collaboratively, the Council and IRJ conduct research to assess progress and consider changes as the project develops. The IRJ also provides technical assistance in the form of developing standard data collection protocols, trainings, information sharing meetings, reports and presentations.Contact:
