Dr. Anthony Braga of Harvard University's Program in Criminal Justice Policy (PCJ) is serving as Boston's Shannon CSI research partner. Dr. Braga and PCJ conduct research to support intervention and suppression strategies for the BPD. Working with the department's Boston Regional Intelligence Center (BRIC) to analyze crime data, the researchers help clarify the nature of gang and youth violence in Boston. They use an array of research methods, including crime mapping, temporal analysis of gun crimes, qualitative analysis of serious crimes, and network analysis of Boston gangs.
