In the first year of the Shannon CSI program the Institute on Race and Justice at Northeastern University also serves as a second LARP for Boston. IRJ's research is directed at community-based prevention, especially monitoring and assisting the Youth Opportunity Boston (YOB) program. The research team works with YOB to track services provided and identify high-risk youth for targeted services. They assist with trainings, information sharing, and research support for BPD initiatives. The team collaborates with other Action Researchers and Boston Shannon partner agencies to share program successes and address challenges. The IRJ also works collaboratively with a Community Advisory Board that includes community leaders, clergy, and service providers who deal with gang and youth violence issues in Boston.
